Air Conditioning Inspections
Important News Bulletin on Air Conditioning Inspections
ACS Group Maintenance Ltd, have been keeping their customers informed about a deadline for Air Conditioning Inspections, since 2010 and more recently after the deadline passed on 4th January 2011.
It was expected government would be lenient with regard to these inspections (ACEA Air Conditioning Level 3 and Level 4 inspections for buildings and sites with a total of 12kw and over of installed air conditioning systems) mainly due to the shortage of qualified inspectors and also the number of buildings still to be inspected, however we have just had news that this is not going to be the case.
ACS Assessors have been notified by STROMA (the construction services organisations) that Trading Standards will be actively targeting area’s from the 1st July 2011 to check for compliance with the Regulations.
We have over recent months, on request, helped many of our customers arrange Air Conditioning Inspections to comply with legislation and we will of course continue to do this. Due to high demand for this service at present all we ask is that you e-mail us at inspections@acsgm.co.uk and we will forward to you both detailed information of your site specific obligations under the Regulations , together with a quotation. Please may we remind you that this service is not covered under our Service and Maintenance Contracts, the inspections are entirely separate. The Air Conditioning Inspection is a VISUAL energy efficiency inspection only, NOT a service visit. The feedback we had from earlier mailers on this matter clearly illustrated some confusion with customers assuming that their service visits were the same as an AC Inspection, may we reiterate that this is not the case.
Another imminent change will be to the non compliance fine structure. Currently if a company is found to have failed to comply with the regulations, they will be fined £300 and given a set period to get the inspection carried out. If they then fail to comply by the deadline, they are again fined £300. This continues to roll until the inspection has been completed. Our Assessors have also been informed from several sources that non compliance is also being highlighted when companies renew insurance policies or when Audits are carried out as part of ISO quality assurance programmes. The fine is said to be increasing but we are still awaiting confirmation of this and we will update our Customers as and when this information is received.
We urge Customers and new visitors to this website not to worry, but rather to e-mail us and we will give you fast advise on the steps that you need to take.
